BetaClips turns long videos into short vertical clips. This page says what that involves for your data: what we hold, who else touches it, how long it stays, and how to get rid of it. It describes the product as it actually works today, including the parts that are still rough.
What we collect
| Account | Your email address. If you sign in with Google, also the name and profile picture Google gives us. If you sign in with an emailed code, only the address. |
|---|---|
| Coins | A ledger of coins granted, bought and spent, and the purchase records behind them. |
| Video you import | The source file, and the transcript produced from it. Held on our processing server while a project is live. |
| On your phone | Projects, clips, captions and settings are stored on the device itself and are not uploaded. |
| Waitlist | If you joined from this site, your email address and nothing else. |
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs. The app measures its own usage locally, on the device, and does not send that anywhere.
Who else processes it
| Sign-in, when you choose it. We receive an identifier, your email, name and picture. Google never gives us your password and we never see it. | |
| Supabase | Hosts the accounts database and the functions that serve it. |
| Stripe | Takes payment for coins. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach us. |
| Resend | Delivers sign-in codes and waitlist confirmations. |
| Groq | Transcribes the audio of imported video, where that provider is configured. Otherwise transcription runs on our own processing server and the audio does not leave it. |
When you import from a link, our server fetches that video from the site you named, the same way a browser would. That site sees a request from our server, not from you.
Security, stated plainly
Sign-in, your account and every payment travel over encrypted connections to Supabase and Stripe. Transport protection for video sent to our processing service is still being completed during the beta. Until that work is finished, treat anything you import the way you would treat a file you are sending over a network you do not control.
We would rather say that than leave it out. It will change before general release, and this page will change with it.
How long we keep it
- Account records stay until you delete the account.
- Source video and transcripts stay on the processing server while the project is live. There is no automatic sweep yet, so if you want a specific import removed, email us and we will remove it.
- Payment records are kept by Stripe under their own retention rules, and we keep the ledger entries we need for accounting.
- Sign-in codes expire in ten minutes and are stored hashed, never in readable form.
Deleting your account
Settings, then Account, then Delete account. It happens immediately and there is no undo. It removes your account, your coin balance and its history, your purchase records, your rendering permissions, and the record of what you analysed. Your Stripe customer record goes too.
Two things it does not do. Projects already on your phone stay on your phone, they are yours and we cannot reach them. And any coin balance is forfeited: we cannot refund it after the account it belonged to is gone, which is why the app tells you the number before you confirm.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and ask for a copy. Write to hello@betaclips.app and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
BetaClips is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
